It was probably a combination of both (or not). But Celexa is an SSRI and they are known for causing depression and suicidal thoughts or attempts. Prozac is the one that gets all the press attention, but any SSRI can do it. It's even in the warnings on the patient inserts.
I am very glad you will be seeing a pdoc. You should write a history down and bring it with you. I brought an Excel spreadsheet with me to see my psychopharmacologist and listed the med, the side effects, the dosage, and the final outcome (whether I stayed on it or not). Then I did another spreedsheet that grouped all the meds I had been on by classification. I'm surprised he didn't ask me if I had ever been DX'd with OCD (I even had color coding going on!). I also put in when I had been hospitalised and suicide attempts. I made his job easy.
