Jerry,
just a word of warning, please be careful and don't think it will be smooth sailing and then get really upset when the WD kicks in.
I don't know if this is true but imo, with effexor, you achieve full blocking of the serotonin reuptake pumps at only 37.5 mgs.
I had a rediculously easy ride coming down from 225 to 37.5 over a period of a week, simply from reading this site, other sites and speaking to a friend who had been on the drug.
Go reaL SLOW from 37.5 to avoid the complications. A switch to prozac liquid to do the rest can be advatageous, but if it is possible i would reccomend the Paxil liquid if its available because there is much less agitation from paxil than there is prozac.
(That is of course only if you do feel any discomfort, you may not, fingers crossed, its just that imo you wont notice any problems until going under the 37.5 mark with effexor.)
Incidentally if you were to try to use the paxil liquid to ease the withdrawal if it comes to that, i would be interested to hear how you feel when taking about 2mgs Paxil liquid per day. When i was withdrawing from paxil, at about 2mgs a days on the liquid i felt the most relief from depression that any SSRI has ever given me. Infact i felt depression free, it was really effective. On the higher doses i felt hideous.
Sometimes i think the doses given of the serotonin medications are way way too high, and micro doses can be way more effective with little to no side effects. There are a lot of nurses i have spoken to in the UK, who not only agree with me, but who tell people they come across to stick with doses as small as i mention for a fuller and better depression aid, than any of the high doses that doctors want patients to mess about with.
