> I was going through some of those Tip fact sheet things, and I was very intrigued. My boyfriend has noticed that I have a constant stream of seemingly random bruises for some time now. I have no recollection of how I got them, and although it could be related to my possible narcolepsy, only one person has ever witnessed me fall down hard to hurt myself, and that incident I was able to recall. I wind up with either large, moderate bruises, or small, intense bruises (very dark and extremely sensitive.) The Tips seemed to indicate that effexor (venlafaxine) doesn't cause this type of thing. Anybody have this problem?

I bruise easier. Bruising is a side effect of SRI's ie: SSRI's, Effexor & Anafranil. Serotonin was first discovered in blood(SERum TONe hence Serotonin), your blood platetlets need serotonin, but unlike nerve cells, they can't make their own, they have to uptake it & use the same method that nerves use. Seotonin Reuptake Inhibitors cause serotonin to be depleted from your platelets which cause you to bleed & bruise easier.

Cheers,
Panda.
