Studies have shown that the ER form lasts only *slightly* longer that the instant release form of Ritalin - that's why I was taking 20mg ER 4x/daily.
But now that Ritalin's patent is expired, other companies have made some good improvements in extended release forms. One of them is CONCERTA. Max dose is 56mg/day. They come in 18mg extended release tablets. I'd say they are MUCH MUCH better than Ritalin ER and IR. METADATE (sp?) is another - but I have not had an experience with it.
