In reply to Lamictal for Bipolar? vs Trileptal and other MSs?, posted by psychosage on June 1, 2004, at 0:49:50
I take Lamictal for bipolar II with mixed states and rapid cycling.
I find that it is activating, which is a great advantage.
I take it with effexor XR and wellbutrin.
It has made a great difference for me in so much as stabalizing me. I hated valproate and lithium. I have not tried trileptal- my doctor has not been happy with it in general. Tegretol, the older cousin was good for stabalization but did nothing for my lows-nor was it activating.
Lamictal works for my downs too so this was the drug of choice for me. Plus I find it easy to tolerate
I too am interested in knowing about combining Lamactil with something else- especially tegretol or even trileptal as I am still swinging a bit. I'm trying to avoid adding an antipsychotic, for stabalization!!!
good luck
