> As far as i know, a clinical psychopharmacologist prescribes medications to patients; a research psychopharmacologist, well, does research-- focusing more on the neurochemical mechanisms by which a certain drug exerts its effects, and less on the actual behavioral effects of a drug (i think). Or they test drugs in trials and studies. i believe they also might develop drugs for drug companies or what have you.

>really?? i have never heard of patients seeing psychopharmacologists ... do they have the same ability to diagnose and perscribe as doctors themselves? this will be a tough choice, but i really appreciate the info... it's nice to know i can make a difference even if i can't tolerate the yuckiness of med school
