In reply to two very important questions about GEODON, posted by sdjeff on April 24, 2004, at 23:47:16
Hi:
>>> I thought my Nortriptyline was causing mixed hypomanic states. <<<<--- As someone suggested the other thread, above, you certainly need 'mood stabilier' for this problem, 'mixed states.'
In regard to Depakote, I was on it at the beginning of dx'ed Bp. It's a good med., normally 750 mg., divided three times a day, from morning to the bedtime, 250 mg. each. However, in my recollection, you're MS phobia, ... It might be hard for you to trust any of MS meds., ... but it won't hurt to try Depakote, because 'mixed state' is hard on nerves. Basically, Depakote is for seizure/epilepsy, but it works 'wonder' for 'ultra cycling/mixed states.' Try to ask the pdoc. anyway.>>> 1. Is this drug really tolerated better at higher doses? I wonder if I should double my current 40 mg. <<<
--- I can't be sure to say, ... but if you're NO confidence in this med., Geodon, you shouldn't increase, because it may cause more 'havoc' on your system. First, try to make certain Geodon is good for you. ----
>>>> 2. It's touted as one of the cleanest AP's, but can it cause dysphoria and mixed hypomanic states? <<<<<
--- Any/All APs are supposed to wipe away those symptoms, 'dysphoria' and 'hypomanic states.' However, if you're sufferring from 'insomnia' due to 'Geodon,' it could happen as 'side effects' from taking Geodon, ... but NOT taking 'Geodon.' ---
