I've read about silent reflux, which causes nasal congestion amoung other things. You don't have the burning symptoms of heartburn, but the stomach acid is being pushed up just the same. If you have this, which can be brought on by anxiety and nerves, hiatal hernia, etc, etc.., it can give you a stuffed nose among other things. The only thing that really clears my nose is nexium and lots of zantac, sometimes claritin D helps. I have no heartburn symptoms, no reflux, but they tried nexium anyways and when I took it my nose cleared right up. But I don't take it anymore. Sometimes gaviscon helps clear my nose right up as well.
So if you are taking ativan, it may settle your stomach and not as much stomach acid is being pushed up into your sinuses. There are also finding the reflux maybe responsible for alot of asthma cases.
You may want to look it up if you are interested.
