For some reason my last post didn't appear, so I'll give it another shot.
I suffer with General Anxiety but more specifically, Social Anxiety. It was suggested by my therapist that Exposure is the best way to go. i.e. staying in the anxiety provoking situation until the anxiety drops off. This seems like a good idea in principle but it'll mean looking a fool in front of all my work colleagues plus feeling like I'm gonna die or something!
I was considering asking my doc for Inderal to reduce the physiological symptoms, but I'm afraid that doing this in itself could be avoidance behaviour & therefore it wouldn't help in the long run.
On the other hand, if the symptoms were reduced then, over time, I might be able to get used to the idea that social situations are none threatning. What are your views on this issue?
