> So far, from this forum, I haven't seen any person who have said "SSRI is GREAT!!!". I have seen some ppl saying MAOI or some Benzo are great but no SSRI. Is it really true that SSRI producing companies bought pdocs and article writers with money???
SSRI's are great. At least for depression and SP. I can't speak about OCD though my sub diagnosable obsessiveness got a bit better.
Perhaps people are more likely to rave about the other drugs because by the time you get to them you've tried and failed many others. The SSRI's are usually the first drug tried and if they work right off you aren't going to have that same feeling of excitement.
> I read some ppl's threads about experiences with SSRI's, and I remember some saying "SSRI simply makes you think "I don't care". So, when you go to see pdoc you really don't complain, and it makes SSRI seems as if working"
After I'd been taking them a while I developed some of the "I don't care" attitude. I believe it is a real problem but that the positive effects are a different phenomenon and are also real.
To be a little more specific I did find I didn't care about some things right from the start. I no longer burst into tears if I spilled a cup of coffee or went into a silent rage if the line at the store was too long. (Annoyed maybe, but not rage). I actually was more able to care about the important things.
If you do decide you want to try it again you might find another SSRI works better. I found that Prozac worked and another one didn't.
