From Paxil to Celexa

Posted by tornado on September 16, 2003, at 23:41:05

I have been on Paxil for 8 yrs and tried coming off of it various times with no success due to all those side effects people talk about (Dizziness, Nausea, Vomiting, Zaps, Whooshing sounds, Nightmares, etc.)When I started Paxil I also went on Clonazepam. About 4 months ago I finally weened off Clonazepam without any major problems. However, a month after that I tried to slowly ween off Paxil. My normal dose was 30mg/day. I went to 30mg one day, 30 the next, and 15 the next and continued that cycyle for for about a month. Then the next month I tried 30 one day and 15 the next, and this wasn't so bad. Then I asked the doctor for 20mg tablets, and decided to just take 20mg/day. Problems set in on the second day, and by the fourth day I was a mess. Then I decided to take 30 mg / day again because I was feeling very dizzy. When I would play video games or watch TV for a while I started to feel like vomiting, but I never did. I stayed on 30mg per day for over a week with no success. Then I went to the doctor and he suspected that the dizziness was caused by an inner ear infection, so I took Serc for a week and a half, and still had the dizziness. I went to the doc again yesterday, and he suggested to stop taking Paxil and take Celexa (30mg) and Clonazepam (.5) for 10 days. Then stop taking the Clonazepam and continue the Celexa. So today I started on Celexa, and I still feel dizzy, and I'm very scared about the next few days as I am off the Paxil again. Has anyone else just traded Paxil for Celexa in one day?? Anyone else stop taking Paxil and got dizzy, then went back on and stayed dizzy?? Please Help ... Advice .... Anything, Thanks.
