I've been on several SSRIs for OCD - and none worked very well - but I probably didn't do long enough trials. OCD takes up to 12 weeks to respond, but I usually only did 6-8 weeks on each drug (Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa). I've been on Effexor now for about 5 or 6 months, no OCD help yet. However, I've just recently raised the dose to 225 mg, and I may go to 300 mg or more in time. So we'll see. I'd say... if you don't get a response from Lexapro after a full 10-12 weeks, and your response to Prozac was not adequate after a full 10-12 weeks, then it's time to consider something other than an SSRI. Anafranil, a tricyclic, is the OCD drug of choice for many.
There's also the MAOIs Nardil and Parnate.
Plus there are many drugs you can augment an SSRI with if the response is only partial, such as Klonopin or atypical anti-psychotics.
