They both have dopaminergic mechanisms, but the mechanisms are totally different. Effexor blocks dopamine reuptake, but it does so very weakly. Effexor's effect on dopamine is not very signifigant, except for MAYBE at the highest doses.

Mirapex, on the other hand, is a direct agonist of dopamine receptors - meaning it activates the same receptors in the brain that dopamine itself does.

Mirapex is a much more dopamine-oriented drug than Effexor.
