Yes, exactly!!! coffe grounds, dirt and tar are NOT heroin. Heroin = diacetylmorphine. Diacetylmorephine is a non-toxic, safe chemical. Of course, an overdose can cause fatal respiratory depression... but that isn't what we are talking about.

We have already established that cocaine can cause brain damge - although generally minor. I fail to see how a person could lose his legs from cocain, but who knows?
Your son's situation is not relevant to the discussion, because he was using street heroin. Street heroin is not safe. Pure opiates and opiods, however, DO NOT DAMAGE THE BODY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. As for his mental state... I never said anything about heroin being safe psychologically. It causes severe dependance and severe withdrawl upon discontinuation, and cravings can last a lifetime. No one is arguing that point.
