actually I do take morphine (ms contin) for depressive episodes and have done so for quite a while. I can't take ADs because I get manic, so this is my drug of choice and it works extremely well. I've gone on and tapered off many times w/o problems- the key for you will be if you can keep it under control w/o escalating the dose- I can- and if you can stop once the depression starts to lift. (and the biggie- getting a doc to prescribe it for you) good luck-judy
