> I have been on lexapro 10mgs for 2 weeks and been feeling better on the whole but still having some anxiety. Yesterday I felt disassociated and my mind kept dwelling on losses from my past (people that have died) I felt very alone.
> I pushed myself through my day and when I went to bed woke up with a whopper of a panic attack almost felt as if I needed to go to ER. I took a xanax and calmed down. I thought I was losing it.
> Do I need more time on the lexapro before I go up on dose? My biggest fear is the med is doing this and I'll end up nuts.

> RaineeI think that many people have been reporting an increase in anxiety within the first few weeks on Lexapro, and then it tapers off. Since I came onto Lexapro off Effexor, which was very good for me on anxiety, I have more now on the Lexapro, but less than if I wasn't being treated. My taper off Effexor had to be very slow because the increase in anxiety was enormous at first -- I was physically shaking all the time and unable to function, but that was a combination of tapering off Effexor and going onto Lexapro at the same time. Give it a little bit of time, but you might want to have a backup med for the anxiety. I just got some Ativan from my new doctor today to back up the Lexapro. Just in case. Stick with it a while, and good luck.
