> I know i'm not on very high of a dose but I can't seem to quit Neurontin. IT helps me sleep at night, I don't even take it during the day anymore. I don't have the axiety level I did before when I started taking it. Every time I try to quit I get this weird akathesia feeling. I'm only taking about 600 mg a day
Do you take a single 600mg tablet at nighttime? Anticonvulsants can have a withdrawal associated with them as well as other psych meds. You will need to get 100mg capsules. Take half of what your normally need for sleep and take one 100mg capsule 12 hrs later the next day (to prevent the withdrawal reaction). Back off your nighttime dose until you get to two 100mg capsules in a 24-hr period and then go to a single 100mg cap at night for a few days and then stop. The withdrawal reaction I had from it was about three or four days (mostly agitation and photophobia). Nowhere near as bad as Depakote (2 weeks or so).
