In reply to Paxil Withdrawl Syndrome..when does it end??, posted by Misunderstood on July 17, 2002, at 16:53:56
> I stopped taking Paxil on July 13th after weening off of it for several weeks to a final dose of 10 mg/day. Over the last several days, I have felt awful eg. lightning bolts shooting throughout my body, dizziness, nauseau, malaise and paranoia. I feel like a heroin addict in a methedone clinic(not like I ever tried heroin or anything, but you get the picture). How long does this curse last? When can I expect to feel better? To those of you who have gone through this, is there any hope that I will not be permanently brain damaged by this awful drug?? Will I ever return to my normal cognitive functioning again?? Please advise.
I always wonder why people coming off SSRIs (serotonin withdrawl syndrome) don't take a few low doses of Prozac after D/Cing the SSRI. It has been mentioned on this board, several times in the past, the long half life of Prozac helps to diminish the withdrawl problems when the Prozac is then stopped. I D/Ced Prozac after 4 years of use with no side effects at all. All of my SSRI changes have been "cross-overs" so I wouldn't expect any symptoms in that case. I have learned to keep the pdoc involved to avoid serotonin syndrome - I get confused sometimes.
Just my thoughts.....if I am wrong I stand corrected!
