parnate and insomnia

Posted by zarathustra on June 25, 2002, at 6:55:48

HELLO,

I have been taking Parnate 40mgs B.I.D. for four months now, it works well. I have lost forty pounds :-) (no appetite whatsoever) which is good because I am overweight, I have experienced no sexual side effects, and most importantly I feel much better. Apparently I was suffering from 'agitated depression', I tried about ten other meds which all had no or very little effect: paxil and zoloft permanently pooped out years ago.
My problems are as follows; I had a much better response on Paxil, it was amazing, Parnate is good but could be better I think; should my dose be increased? Also I am suffering from insomnia, I take my p.m. dose no later than 3pm; should I take it all at once in A.M.?
And finally, the C.P.S. says that dosage should be reduced once maximum response is achieved, Why?, wouldnt that send you back into a depression?

One more.... What is the difference between nardil and parnate? Would I get a better response to nardil?

I am not looking for a drug to fix all of my problems but Parnate seems to somewhat fall short of my expectations as established by my response to ssri (which will no longer work even at high doses)

thanks to those that respond

Andrew
