In reply to Widespread pain coming from depression ?!, posted by ben on May 4, 2002, at 13:17:07
I have widespread pain too and my pcp thinks I am depressed. I went to a rheumatologist for a fibromyalgia diagnosis but he told me there was no such thing and just to take tylenol and exercise. A year later and I'm worse than ever. I am desperate enough to go see a psychiatrist in case my pcp is right.
I hope you follow back with this and let us know if anything helps. I do take Klonopin and I believe it helps a little, but I'm afraid since I've been taking it so many years that the cognitive deficiency I am experiencing may be from long term benzo use (or it could be from Fibromyalgia, if I could find a doctor to diagnose me). In either case I know that the meds I take daily (4 Vicodin, 1 800 mg Ibuproben) and the physical therapy/massage only help a little. I was given Elavil for sleep and pain but all it did was dope me up and I would bump into walls the next day. I didn't sleep well on it.
I am continuing the battle and hope to find some relief and/or at least a real diagnosis.
Best of luck to you!
Patti
