Buspar eventually has a depressant effect on the brain. If you look up drug interactions for Dronabinol (Marinol) the THC pill you'll see that it interacts with depressant drugs. Smoking will just increase the depressant effect. So Buspar could cause pot to sedate you more or make you more vulnerable to the downer effects you can get from marijuana. Pot is a depressant drug. Take Xanax, Klonopin, or Valium and then smoke and you'll find that the high is very different (even if you take the aforementioned anti-anxiety drugs regularly and at the therapeutic dose). It can make the high less "paranoid" and more chill. However, marijuana always has after effects even for the casual user. It can mess up your memory, enery, motivation, and definitely make you more anxious. This can last for several days to weeks after smoking. The memory can take even longer to recover. I stopped smoking due to the adverse effects from pot, and have no desire to start back up. It's not really worth it. I think it would be safe to smoke while on Buspar, but I'd advise quitting it altogether. Not even occasional use. But hey, I can't tell you what to do. Just think about it and what it's really done for you and if it's worth it. You seem concerned for your safety/health to some extent. And it's definitely not healthy. I used to smoke everyday. Then I'd smoke casually. I know I was a different person then when I look back on it. I'm glad I don't smoke anymore and think that eventually the user has to decide for themselves if it's worth it.
