In reply to Zoloft switch to Prozac schedule question?, posted by Ronanon on February 24, 2002, at 16:32:46

Any info on how to implement the switch over? I’m going from 150mg Zoloft back to 30 mg Prozac. What should I do so the one kicks in about when the other quits? Should I start taking Prozac a few days before quitting the Zoloft or what?

The Zoloft has a short half-life relative to Prozac. It will take Prozac about 2-3 weeks to reach steady-state. I would try a cross-taper. Try 100mg Zoloft + 10mg Prozac for one week, then 50mg Zoloft +20mg Prozac for the 2nd week, Then maybe 25mg Zoloft +30mg Prozac for the 3rd, then stop the Zoloft and continue with just 30mg Prozac starting the 4th week.
