Clinical Depression/anxiety causing gastroparesis

Posted by Jaynee on February 20, 2002, at 19:16:20

Hi again. Has anyone else had depression/anxiety cause gastroparesis or lazy stomach. Or is it the other way around. I have suffered from re-current bouts of clinical depression since the age of 9. They seem to come every 5 to 6 years. I am 37 years old. This bout is the first time I have taken an anti-depressant, yes I went through hell and back with no medication. Well the last 2 bouts I took the odd ativan for about 1 month. I am on Celexa this time around, which helps my mood somewhat, but the anxiety is just under the surface waiting to jump out. I am also taking Passion Flower extract as well for the anxiety. Anyways, any other bout of depression/anxiety I have suffered I didn't have any problems with my stomach. This bout of depression all started with a lump in my throat, which turned into a stomach nightmare, which turned into anxiety/depression.

After that long drawn out blurp, I would like to know if anyone else has gastroparesis, and which came first.

Also, is there anyone else out there with hereditary hemochromatosis. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and I thought because I was de-ironed, I would never get depressed again. Wrong............I do feel better, but that damn anxiety/depression came back to haunt me.

Thanks, for listening............Jaynee
