Yes, ECT is transient but less so than rTMS. Also, the antidepressant effect of ECT is much more powerful than rTMS. Basically if it doesnt cause a generalized seizure, the antidepressant effect is mediocre. This is why people like Max Fink (shock doc expert) have little faith in rTMS. Many are skeptical about rTMS. The general claim is unless it causes a seizure (convulsion) the efficacy is low.

Most of the hype about rTMS is gone and over with Ben.
