In reply to Depressed after 2 days of Klonopin Taper. . ., posted by AnneL on February 3, 2002, at 20:22:19

> Any connection with my tapering down on the Klonopin? The 2 nights I decreased my dose were not the greatest either (every hour I wake up).
> I read that Klonopin is a mild (?) mood stabilizer, any truth to this? I am sorry I even mentioned the drowsiness to my pdoc. I would much rather feel morning grogginess which goes away with the first cup of coffee and a little daytime drowsiness on the weekends (never at work) then the way I feel right now. I want to abandon this taper and get back to where I was. Any thoughts? Thanks Anne :(Yes. If you want to taper the klonopin you will endure dyssphoria and anxiety and a host of disturbances probably for 10-20 days after each dosage reduction. Maybe your not ready to try a taper, but that is part of the deal. No Great way around it except to try adding an anticonvulsant such as neurontin, tegretol, trileptal, depakote, etc. How much are you taking? I wouldn't taper by more than .25mg at a time.
