A better way to take PAXIL !!!!

Posted by 3 Beer Effect on February 2, 2002, at 17:28:53

People always seem to complain about Paxil withdrawl if they forget to take their pill in the morning. I think I have found a way to prevent this, & to make the drug more effective with less side effects.

The main problem with Paxil is that the half life is too short for an anti-depressant at 21 hours. That means if you forget to take it in the morning you will be going through the hell of SSRI withdrawl at work all day.

What I don't understand is why instead of taking one 20 mg Paxil pill in the morning, why don't people just take a 10 mg pill of paxil in the morning, & a 10 mg Paxil pill in the evening (12 hours after the morning dose). If taken in this fashion the 21 hour half life of Paxil is more than enough, and a steady state blood level of Paxil will be achieved in 3 days meaning that the level of Paxil in your blood will be subject to less fluctations which cause variations in mood.

When I took 100 mg of Zoloft I had much insomnia but then had the doctor order 2 pills of 50 mg Zoloft which I took every 12 hours & the insomnia was moderately reduced.

I would not recommend cutting a pill of 20 mg Paxil or 100 mg Zoloft in half and taking it. I tried this & it does not work, the pill seems to be stronger, acts too fast, and make side effects noticeably worse.
