PAXIL experiences for social phobia depression??

I was wondering if anyone had any stories about their experiences with Paxil (paroxetine)? (I am trying to decide whether I should bother trying Paxil or just ask for the MAOI Nardil when I go see my new psychiatrist shortly). I have major depression w/ social phobia.
I noticed the prescribing info says the dosage for social phobia is 20 mg while the dosage for panic disorder is 40 mg/day. I read in some psychiatry textbook that the dosages of most medicines for panic disorder & social phobia are usually the same. Is 20 mg or 40 mg the best for social phobia?
Does Paxil cause insomnia? I have been on other SSRIs such as Zoloft 100 mg & Celexa 40 mg both of which gave me horrible insomnia.
