Minaprine Nomifensine anyone?

Posted by Anna Laura on January 11, 2002, at 20:14:04

I just found out that the antidepressant drugs Minaprine and Nomifensine, which have been withdrawn from the market in my country, are still being approved and sold in Switzerland (not very far away from where i live).
I know they seem to have dopaminergic action, but wether they are potent or weak dopamine reuptake inhibitors/enhancers i don't know.
Dopaminergic drugs like Selegiline or Mirapex are prescribed just for Parkinson or Alzheimer Desease, and ther's no way you can get them unless you have those deseases.
These drugs have not been approved for the treatment of depression so far (ther's just an experimental trial being conducted with Mirapex at the Clinical University of Pisa).
I was wondering if Nomifensine or Minaprine could be valuable substitutes for these drugs, since i can't find any pdoc in Europe willing to prescribe me Mirapex or Selegiline for depression.

Any input will be appreciated
