If it gets too bad, consider carbamazepine XR..the only one of its type in epilepsy. I have temporal lobe epilepsy (Complex-partial) and all I take for seizure control is carbamazepine, which is efficacious. As far as mood is concerned, he may need an antidepressant on board.
