Ativan long term?

Posted by adamie on December 5, 2001, at 16:07:19

hi. I have been taking Ativan 1mg and 0.5 mg for my anxiety (also have severe depression). some of the anxiety takes the form of mind torture. making it painful to be alive. and constant negative feelings. i was on ativan 1mg 4 times a day for 3 days at a time when mind torture was very strong and I was feeling suicidal. I dunno but I think it helped slightly.

then I was put on zoloft 25mg to be raised to 50mg after 5 days which is now. also on risperdal 0.5mg at night time. During this time my dose was changed to 0.5 of ativan to be taken as needed.

the thing is... my mind torture and anxiety is CONSTANT. I need something for ALL THE TIME. SO I am not going to take it as needed. I will take it 3-4 times a day instead.

I just want to know if this is safe long term? I dont want to die so I want RELIEF, not mind torture.

and how about 1mg instead of 0.5? this is what i took before. i dont seem to have any side effects from the ativan that i am aware of and it seems to help me sleep.

so is it safe to take it 3-4 times a day and safe to take it long term? please reply

and what if i miss a few doses? what happens then?

anyone here have experiences with Ativan willing to share?
