In reply to Paxil anyone??, posted by Denett on December 1, 2001, at 4:54:00
Hi. I think Paxil works very well for many people, but the side effects can be very difficult. I was on Paxil twice. Weaning off is hell unless you do it very, very gradually. Paxil helps agitation and anxiety better than most other ADs. However, when I was on Paxil, I was always hungry. I stayed on it less than 4 months and gained a few pounds. Many people after 6 to 8 months put on quite a bit of weight, so you would have to watch that if you do try it. Constipation and lethargy are a problem also for many. Forget about a sex drive also. I don't mean to seem negative because it does work, but it's a big trade off. I stick with Prozac [no bad side effects; a little insomnia]and Xanax as needed. Good luck.
