In reply to Remeron Vs. Serzone...what difference??? Help!, posted by jay on November 20, 2001, at 17:00:12
I felt more sedated on Serzone. It made me
much less anxious, but dizzy and drunk feeling.
I also had hot flashes. On Remeron, sometimes I felt anxious at the
higher dose (45 mg). I had no other real side
effects on Remeron. Prior to it I was taking
a lot of anti-histamines to help with sleep, which
I stopped after starting Remeron (which is an
anti-histamine itself). I feared Remeron may make
me drowsy, but it didn't. I think it was because
I was used to the anti-histamines prior to it.
Remeron didn't give me hot flashes or any stuff
like that. Both medications helped with sleep.
Overall Serzone was better for sleep, anxiety,
depression. But Remeron was much more tolerable.
That was *my* experience. Everone's will differ.

The Serzone had a couple of effects that made me have to stop. Each time I tried it, I developed some nasty immune system problems, and would end up with "thrush". (It happened 5 times, and these are the only times I have ever gotten thrush in my life. My doc agreed, after all the tests, that it may be just a combo of an immune/allergic reaction particular to some, and I was just lucky to be "some". :-)
