Even if you are on the XR version you may want to divide the dose. I take Mirapex which has a short half life and I notice if I miss my dose at around 10AM.

I started taking Zyprexa for the rumnating thoughts you mention but it also worked on reducing my anxiety. It may be helpful to give it a try. You will usually know in less than a week if it is working.

You may want to talk to your doctor about finding a med that works on Dopamine. From my experience and some of the other stories here, these meds help out a lot when you are having problems finding joy in things or motivation to get out of the house and do somehting.

thank you for answering.
I'm taking regular effexor: two tablets in the morning plus two tablets at night. I'll try to divide it up throughout the day. I can't take antypsychotic cause they make my depression worse and i guess Ziprexa fits in to that category. I took an atypical antypsicotic this summer,(levosulpiride) thinking it it could have a different effect since it was atypical, but i felt miserable within few weeks: i 'm not going to experience that again, that's why i'm too scared about trying ziprexa. I think i'll try a dopaminergic agent: it's going to be very hard to persuade a pdoc to prescribe it since here in Italy pdocs are quite reluctant about dopaminergics or anything which doesn't belong to the traditional antidepressant category.
Too bad i can't find Survector, cause it's believed to have potent dopaminergic properties.
