I am discouraged- it seems that my son has had a bad reaction to lamictal, ended up in the ER, with mouth sores, what looked like thrush also. He has not been able to eat, or go to school. We had to also stop the lamictal, after titrating it for 6 weeks, and staying home while doing it. Granted, Evan could not do school then anyways, and needed a neutral temporary out of district placement- he had a great school day last thursday! Was this due to the lamictal kicking in, the added seroquel, getting used to the school, or all of the above, who knows. The pdoc feels bad, so do we! The lamictal was titrated at 12.5 for 2 weeks, then 25 for two weeks, 50 for two weeks, etc, because Evan was also on depakote- so we were very cautious. I had hopes of getting rid of the lithium , but now I increased it to 900 total, given at night. I don't dare not do that. The addition of the seroquel during the day, given with geodon, has helped. And clozaril is definately a serious consideration if the four meds my son is taking do not improve his bipolar illness significantly. Please pray for us. Thankyou, Karen Curtis
