Parnate or Selegiline are dopaminergic meds and
will likely be stimulating. For some people the
experience is similar to dexedrine. I haven't
heard of too many people's depression being exacerbated by
these meds. However, most doctors are a little
hesitant to prescribe MAOIs because of the food
interactions. You would need to make it clear
that you had a history of failure on all the other
meds.

BTW, have you had a good physical exam work-up to
test for simple things like hypo-thyroid, etc?

Also, I recommend finding out through the grape
vine who the best doctors are in town and speculatively
booking appts with them even if it is months away.
Believe me, if it doesn't work out with the doctor
you hook up quickly with, you will be glad you made
the other appointments. you can always cancel them
if things work out with your 1st doctors.

I have tried paxil, prozac, wellbutrin, effexor, celexa, and briefly adrafinil. All of them made my depression worse. effexor made me suicidal and same with celexa. I felt like escaping from the mental hospital since they were forcing AD's on me. I have also tried zyprexa and very briefly risperdal. With Zyprexa there is no worsening effect for me like the AD's.

Can this be a very reliable anti depressant? What are some of your experiences with this medication? Is it safe to take along with zyprexa? Please reply.
