Coffee. The stronger the better.

Sorry, couldn't resist that. Sudafed is a mild stim. for me 60-120 mg is tolerable and has some beneficial effects when I feel really dragged out in the AM. Ephedrine is available in some herbal cough-and-cold preparations, sometimes listed as Ma Huang, e.g. Natural Factors' "Echinamide Daytime" has 1 mg ephedrine per 5 ml (1 tsp) dose. Unfortunately, both of these have too many generalized body effects (racing heart, sweatiness, shakiness) to be really useful, and are at best risky to combine with other meds.

There's also yohimbine - whole yohimbe bark is available in a few health food stores without Rx, at least in Canada. Unique mixture of sympathetic and parasympathetic stimulation - not for everyone! See some earlier posts.

But mostly, anything that's really effective, is illegal without Rx in US & Canada.

Just curious, Sal, how would you rate Adrafinil on a scale between say Sudafed and Ritalin?
