Hi Amie,
Well, I've been on and off antidepressants for many years -- I stopped completely when I got pregnant, and am having trouble getting back on meds without bad side effects. It's been a year and a half that I've been going from one thing to the next. Before pregnancy, I was on Zoloft and wellbutrin for about 2 years. I started with the Zoloft, then added Wellbutrin to help offset the fatigue I felt with the Zoloft. It seemed to help a bit, but I was still tired.
This time, I just started Prozac a couple of months ago (after a long, yucky bout with Effexor). I automatically took the Wellbutrin with the Prozac because of the fact that SSRIs make me tired.
Anyway, it doesn't really help take the edge off of the Wellbutrin -- for some reason, this time around, the Prozac is a bit more stimulating for me. So I had to reduce the Wellbutrin I was taking.
As far as sexual side effects, I'm a bad person to ask. Embarrassingly enough, my husband and I haven't had sex since our baby was born! Neither one of us has had the energy or desire, I guess. I'm not sure if it's the medication taking away my desire or not ... I'm sure it has affected me some. But it's not really a concern right now, since that part of our marriage is non-existent at this point. We tried sex therapy, but never followed through on our "homework" because we were too tired at the end of the day! At least it's mutual.
So, long story short, I guess I'm not much help to you ... the Prozac + Wellbutrin combo seems to be helping with my fatigue and depression, which helps me be a better mom to my baby, so that's a good thing right now.
Are you on Wellbutrin alone right now, and considering adding Prozac? I know that Serzone and Remeron are not supposed have sexual side effects; have you tried those?
take care,
-cindy
