I wanted to find out peoples opinions on the main mechanism by which Mirtazapine acts as an antidepressant. Believe it blocks receptors called alpha2-autoreceptors and alpha2-heteroreceptors but was wondering how significant blockade of the other receptors was. You see ive been reading that theres an increased interest in drugs that block post-synaptic receptors as antidepressants. Just wondering how significant people thought this was in mirtazpines antidepressant action.
Thanks
