I can find little written about its use besides for anti-seizure conditions. The pdoc made a poor/flawed thinking case for connecting the mechanism of flashbacks and anxiety to seizures in the brain. (Perhaps someone else could explain it better if the connection is in fact to be made; the pdoc's explanation was full of errors and I've heard better logic from those who post here.)
I personally believe that flashbacks associated with PTSD give you "information to work with" in healing and are not things from which to run. A medicine, however, that can take the edge off the mounting anxiety which happens over the long haul at times (read: spouse/kids getting tired of irritable wife/mom *smile*) is helpful. Complete removal of anxiety/fight-flight mechanisms only postpones the inevitable work ahead in the healing process, I believe.
I am noticably frustrated. At least I understand how "plain old" ativan or xanax work.
SIGH!
