In reply to Disability Leave what to do at home????, posted by Carolyn on February 19, 2000, at 20:54:46
Try taking a course. EVen a self taught one. I'm doing terracotta sculpture and also learning about trading in the stock market. Think of the hobby or activity you would have spent time doing if you didn't have to work. Do that one.
However, I must confess, after two years these interests have proved thin. They do not provide for interaction with other people as regularly as work does. But for a short term leave (we hope that's all it will be) these ideas might be helpful.
> Monday I go to the pdoc to get a letter for short term disability leave from work. I'm wondering if this is a really good idea. Well, of course I'm wondering now...it's Saturday, and I didn't have to go to work!
> I feel I do need to be away from it awhile, because of my terrible mood swings and irritability, and difficulty performing...I can do it, but it takes a lot out of me. I am trying to plan what to do at home so as not to just sit around and cry all day. I do plan to walk outdoors, make a list of chores for myself. Anybody have any input on this? I'm only talking short term disability (hopefully!) til I can find a new mix of meds that work.
