EWB - The anxiety caused by Celexa™ (citalopram) is a start-up side effect of the drug. As your body begins to adjust to the drug and the therapeutic action begins to kick in, the anxiety lessens to a point lower than what it originally was. This takes two to four weeks, depending on the ability of your body to adapt to the Celexa.

SSRIs, like Celexa, as used in panic disorder, but in most cases, the panic attacks increase before they begin to be controlled. Knowing that this anxiety will wane, and perhaps the judicious use of a low dose benzodiazepine if necessary, can help control this start-up side effect.

I hope that this is of some help. - Cam
