I've been taking Zyprexa for better than two years now and it has been a Godsend. It wiped out my obsessional thinking, especially about death and suicide. My mind started working more clearly within the week. It also has good AD augmentation properties. I still notice if I miss a couple of doses in a row. I take 7.5mg at night but started at 5mg.
Don't get hung up on the word anti-psychotic. All of the meds that we discuss here are mind altering in some way. I found that I never reacted to an SSRI but have since reacted well to meds that work on the dopamine system. Not all depression revolves around seratonin so we need to keep open minds about meds that may have a slightly different use on the label but they may work as an AD on an individual basis.
