The anticonvulsant I was given for BP was depakote, 500 mg at night. I never had trouble with anxiety or insomnia while on depakote, but I did become somewhat lethargic. Maybe you could start with a lower dose.

PS. I used to suffer from so many headaches I was afraid I had a brain tumor or something. What I had was high blood pressure. Of course, your headaches might be stress-related.
