> thanks John, I think I will take your advice. What do you think about switching from xanax to clonazpam? or just stick with what works.... I seem to be slowly increasing my dose, I dont really mind "popping more" pills, but mabey it might be better to switch and try Klonopin..
Howdy again,
Might Klonopin be better than Xanax? I have no clue. It would vary considerably from person to person. However, I just think that if a med from a particular class of meds works somewhat, it is worth sampling similar meds in that class to see if a superior match exists. You can always return to Xanax if you don't find another one you like better. The cool thing with these comparisons is that you don't need a long trial. One or two weeks would be enough for you to decide. You could even it plan it that way with your doctor. Ask him to prescribe Klonopin for two weeks. Have him renew the prescription or switch you back to Xanax after the trial, or maybe even try a different one like maybe Valium.I like to know for sure that I'm on the best med in a particular class of meds. The only way to know for sure is to try the different ones. In the SSRI category for example, I've tried them all. I know the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between them, which ones make me tired, which ones ruin my sleep, which ones give me which kind of sexual dysfunction, which kinds numb me instead of fix me, etc. It's nice to not have to wonder if another drug might be better. The best way to know for sure is to compare them. Obviously this is not appropriate for someone who is suicidal, psychotic, or unstable. But if someone is relatively functional, it's worth the effort, in my opinion. There's just no other way to know for sure whether Xanax or Klonopin is better for you without actually trying them both for comparison.
