I may have missed it in the thread, but one of the newest GABAergic drugs is tiagabine (Gabitril). It was recommended to me by Patrick J. McGrath to put on my list of things to try to treat my refractory bipolar depression. I think his basis for recommendation was anecdotal communications with colleagues and that it was simply one more anticonvulsant with pro-GABAergic properties to take a shot at.
Generic name: tiababine
Brand name: Gabitril
Manufacturer: Abbott Laboratories - > to be sold to Cephalon
Let me know if anyone has had experience with this drug. I think I'll hit the Web to see what impressions people have of its use in mood disorders. If you guys come up with anything, please post.Thanks.
