i am working in Singapore and don't have any people to ask questions, and feel vulnerable after getting ill earlier this year. I had bronchial influenza but ended up with a post viral depression after it.......had ECT when in hospital.
I went to Australia to be with my family when recuperating (was told not to work for a while) and saw a psychiatrist there for a second opinion - my brother advised this as he knows alot about psychiatry as he has bipolar, which dibiliates him a fare bit (I am not like him - it was just a one off thing, although no one has been very clear to me about any sort of diagnosis)
I was put on 800mg of Lithium plus 150mg of Effexor, for the past six months (after the six weeks in hospital) --I was doing really well after about a month and was hoping that maybe soon I could come off the tablets ------- but for the past few weeks I have been very down, which I first thought was just my period, but it got worse and I still feel very down and sad. My husband took me back to see the psychiatrist (who originally treated me for the post-viral depression) and he has now changed my medication. I now am to take double the amount of Lithium (1600mg) plus a different medicine called "Stablon" - 12.5mg three times a day. I am concerned about just making a sudden change from the Effexor. The reason I am worried is that a couple of times I forgot Effexor and felt quite strange (shakey and dizzy). Does anyone have some advice?
