These are CANKER sores not fever blisters or cold sores --totally different animals. They are often
confused. It is not really known what causes canker sores (virus vs. bacteria etc.)
while fever blisters/cold/sores/herpes simplex are known to be caused by a virus and can
be treated with Zovirax. Thanks for the attempt in any case-- your
heart was in the right place. Maribeth
