> JohnL--are you still cycling on and off Sam-e successfully? I won't gloat about how great I feel on Sam-e, but the stuff has worked really well for me twice now. I'm at the end of my box and don't know whether to buy another or try to keep myself afloat with exercise. I fear poop out. When you stop taking it, do you fall right back down, or how long can you sustain a decent mood?
Gritslad,
I do return to SAMe every now and then. Usually if/when I have a low unexpected slump. I've discovered SAMe can lift me up out of the pits very quickly, like within three days. And then when I stop taking it, the good effects seem to last anywhere from a week to many weeks. I have also discovered that if I take it continuously, it loses its effect in about a week. I get a short-lived burst of recovery that poops out quickly. But that's just me. I know it's different with other people. So for now, I reserve it for those unusualy low slumps that come every now and then, or for those periods when I'm tapering off of a med or am temporarily between meds. SAMe for me works well each time I try it, but alas, only for a short time. If I quit taking it before it poops out on its own, then the good effect seems to last for weeks or indefinitely. Go figure that one out...??? I have no clue.
