I am looking for anyone who has any information about this. I have a friend who was prescribed prozac by her MD. She was already taking an anti-psychotic drug. Recently she started talking about the second-coming of Christ and how she knows when it's going to happen. She also refuses to go to the local mental health hospital because she is absolutely certain she will be killed if she goes there. She recently quit school, quit her job and left her boyfriend to "spend the rest of her life with his son". She says she's perfectly sane and everyone around her is crazy. She "knows" things that are going to happen...
I've known her for 4 years and never seen this behaviour before. The worse I've ever seen is her become paranoid when under a lot of stress and when she's forgotten to take her anti-psychotic medication. I told her I was convinced the Prozac was altering her personality. She spoke to her MD on the phone who apparently got angry at her for citing info about Prozac from the internet. He told her only to come to him and not to get information from the internet. He then asked her some questions to determine her state of mind (?!?) and told her that the Prozac was not causing a problem and she should continue to take it. He isn't aware of the delusional ideas I mentioned here. Why would she mention those to him? She doesn't want to give up the Prozac because she feels great! The man should have his license taken away! It makes me extremely angry.
Any advice in fighting this battle would be very much appreciated!
Thank you,
Liza
