julie,
i have never had problems with effexor and memory loss but when i was on neurontin (a mood stabilizer) i found that i would forget what i was talking about in mid-sentence. i would forget appointments and forget to call people back. i just felt so scattered. my pdoc changed my meds so now i am not on the neurontin anymore and low and behold, i can think and remember things clearly again! changing meds is something you should consider. talk to your doc. good luck.
